A Drippy Sniffly Run

I made a comment last week about how I never get sick and how I've managed to successfully dodge most of the colds/ flus that have been floating around most of the winter...

So naturally I got sick.

Sick, but wearing my sweats and very happy about it!

I have no idea what this is, it's the weirdest bug I've ever had. For about 3 days I had no cold/ flu symptoms other than cold sweats and a feeling of not being able to get warm enough.. But let's be honest, I'm one of those freaks who is never warm enough. Then later last week it really hit - the coughing, sneezing, runny nose part. Not so fun, next time I knock on wood after tempting fate!

My favourite comfort food when I'm sick

Friday was the worst, I just wanted to snuggle up in blankets and sleep it off. Saturday I made myself get out and run with Boy (I love running with Boy, even when I'm not feeling great!)

I slept until noon on Sunday (which I never do!) but still managed to run. I decided to set up shop on the treadmill for 10 miles with an old school Bond movie, lots of kleenex and some cough drops. It actually wasn't so bad! Plus I dressed up like a leprechaun in all green/ plaid - gotta celebrate St. Patrick's Day, my family is Irish! Well, that and I will take any excuse to get themed out :)

Daisy-Pants wanted in on the camera action

I don't know if I felt better post-run, but I didn't feel worse either. I was exhausted though. I made Chicken Parmesan for Boy for supper (vegetarian version = Portobello Parmesan! Yummm!), then it was back to bed with a movie.

False Chicken (aka portobello!) on left, real chicken on the right!

I'm feeling a little better today. Today is a rest day, but I'll be running again tomorrow!

Check out my post on running and sickness here.

  2. I do run when I'm sick, I just try to be cautious about it and make sure I'm not pushing too hard.

  4. I'm OBSESSED with Vega Smoothies, that Vanilla Almondilla flavour is so good!!

I hope you're feeling better soon! It's the worst to be sick. Though I have a runner friend who swears that running through a cold lets you "sweat it out" and get better quicker. Knock on wood, but I haven't been sick with a cold in the last year or so, so I haven't really had to think about trying this theory.

  5. I love that pink hoodie! What brand is it? And that is one seriously hooked up treadmill. I usually still run if I don't have a fever. Traveling last week kind of threw my body into shock. I have a little bit of a cough still, but I'm hoping that it goes away soon! I hope yours does too!
